Encore Rehabilitation’s Occupational Therapy programs utilize Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to work with residents and patients to increase their independence and help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
This includes assisting the resident in regaining the skills for self feeding, grooming, bathing, toileting, and dressing. Adaptive equipment is provided to residents who are unable to complete these tasks on their own.
Occupational Therapy also focuses on providing assistance for those individuals who display decreased safety, strength, fine motor skills, activity tolerance, balance, and/or cognition. For those individuals who need higher level ADL training, the focus is on Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) such as cooking, cleaning, money management, medication management, return to work skills, and other skills needed to allow for increased independence in their environment.
